Udupi : The State level Pre-University College Floodlight Hand Ball Tournament was inaugurated at the Poornaprajna College grounds on 2^nd December, 2016 which was organized by Department of Pre-University Education along with Poornaprajna Pre-University College, Udupi.

The guests of the day were escorted to the ground with college brass band, two horses, students. President of the programme Advocate Pradeep Kumar Working President of Organizing Committee took guard of honour from the march pasting 28 teams from various district of Karnataka state.

In his keynote address Sridher Shetty Coordinator of Sports and Games, Pre University Educational Department appreciated the Poornaprajna Management to organizing the great state level tournament. He highlighted the some of the achievements of Poornapraja institutions.

The inaugural programme began with an invocation prayer by the PU Students Anwitha, Apoorva, Veshnavi and Vandana. The fresh fruits were offered to Sri Sri Vishwapriya Swimiji of Admar Mutt from Principal Sandeep Kumar and PD Director. R. B. Nayak Deputy Director of PreUniversity Education Department welcomed the gatherings. Sri Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji inaugurated the Tournament by lighting the lamp followed by releasing the balloons into the air.

Dr. Kishore Kumar C. K. hoisted the Olympic flag, Gurme Suresh Shetty Entrepreneur hoisted the Pre University flag and Sandeep Kumar hoisted the College flag.

In his inaugural address Sri Sri Vishwapriyatheertha Swamiji said that in various competitions and events one can loose and winning will be common. We should not be disappointed when we are losing. Loosing will be challenge to get winning point.

Gurme Suresh Shetty and Dr. Kishore Kumar C.K. spoke during the occasion. Advocate Pradeep Kumar gave his presiding address and said that India during Olympic games not gained the medals. Our government should encourage the sportsmen obviously, then only sports in India will develop.

Hariyappa Kotian, Dr. Jagadish Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Geetha Shet, Shridher Shetty, Sharath Rao and other among were present on the dais.

 54 teams from 28 districts, around 800 students were participated in the tournament. State level winners will get chance to participate in national level tournament as usual. Sathish Shetty Chithrapadi compared the programme with his style of excellence.
