Udupi : With the mission of love and service, Lombard Mission Hospital, Udupi providing medical care. We are happy to note that Mission Hospital moving towards development. It is great privilege that in our family except one, all were born in Mission Hospital, said Pramod Madhwaraj Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment and district in-charge Minister. 

He was speaking during his inaugural address after inaugurating new ICU unit and dedication of renovated wards at Lombard Mission Hospital on Saturday, 3^rd December, 2016, said that as per the Medical Council need, minimum 20 acres of land necessary to establish a medical college. Mission Hospital has such privilege. He asked the management to establish medical college in Udupi. Dr. Sushil Jathanna left the job in U. K. and giving his service in Mission Hospital for the purpose of service and love with the motto of heal the sick.

The stage programme began with the invocation prayer Choir ‘how great thou art’ by the choir group. Rt. Rev Mohan Manoraj Bishop of CSI was presided over the stage programme. Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje President of Udupi CMC, Rev Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Education Society of Udupi Diocese, Dr. Sushil Jathanna Director of Mission Hospital, Udupi, Dr. L. C. Soans Karnataka Rajyotsava Award Winner, Padmashree Dr. Manmohan Attawar Chairman, Indo American Hyvrid Seeds (India) Pvt. Ltd, Bangaluru, Ramesh Kanchan Municipal Councillor and Steevan Sarvothama Area Chairman of CSI, Udupi Area Council were present on the dais.

Dr. Sushil Jathanna welcomed the gatherings and later placed the history and a journey towards excellence of Mission Hospital since its establishment in the year 1923 by Dr. Eva Lombard with the intention of giving medical care and service to women and children with the bed of six. The main motto of the hospital is to provide service and love for the community in special.

The programme of the day began with thanksgiving service held at Mission Hospital Chapel at 8am which keynote message given by Rev Steevan Sarvotham.

In the evening during the stage programme after the inauguration of new ICU and dedication of renovated wards, Dr. L. C. Soans was felicitated by the guests on the dais.

Indrali Jayakar Shetty and Rev Fr. Lawrence D’Souza spoke during the occasion. Donald Anchan proposed vote of thanks. Various cultural programme was organized at the end of the programme.
