Pramod Madwaraj visits Kemmannu to inspect progress of road widening.

Kemmannu, March 2, 2018: Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth affairs minister Mr. Pramod Madhwaraj visited Kemmannu to take firsthand look and inspect the progress of the road widening project. The minister was happy that good progress has been made within the last couple of weeks and assured his support.

The minister personally met few of the building owners who have whole heartedly supported by agreeing to dismantle part of their buildings. He was accompanied by local leaders Mrs. Veronica Cornelio, the driving force behind the project, Kemmannu Panchayat President Mrs. Fauzia Sadiq, Mr. Rahamathulla Thonse, Mr. Gururaj Bhat, Mrs. Sulochana, Ex Panchayat member and man of the moment Mr. Arun Fernandes, Civil work Contractor Mr. Archibald Menezes and other leaders and Panchayat Members.

The road widening work is progressing well with about 50% of the work completed so far. Majority of the shop owners have voluntarily agreed to prune the part of their building, however, a few are still undecided about their willingness. Local leaders are hopeful that ultimately all will co operate and the project will be completed within a couple of months.

Ground work for widening Kemmannu Main Road begins.

Kemmannu, 05 February 2018: As the saying goes “well begun is half done”, at last a beginning has been made as far has widening Kemmannu road is concerned. The much awaited project was inaugurated by Minister Mr. Pramod Madhwaraj a few months ago but delayed a bit due to acquisition of land and convincing the building owners to dismantle the portion of their building.

Presently many of the building owners have agreed to part with portion of their building and a few are still undecided as there is hardly any compensation for them even to build the demolished party of the building. Mrs. Veronica Cornelio along with Panchayat President Mrs. Fauzia Sadiq and with Panchayat members are trying to convince the building owners about the benefits of having a wide road for the village.

Meanwhile, a beginning was made this morning with the dismantling process of few buildings bear Dr. Holla’s clinic and the work is expected to continue in the coming days. Mrs. Veronica Cornelio, Panchayat President Fauzia Sadiq, Mr. Rahamathulla Thonse, Mrs. Ustad Sadiq, Mr. Arun Fernandes, Mr. Gururaj Bhat, Mrs. Sulochana and many others were present during the occasion.

 As pointed out in our earlier article there is no official compensation for the building and land owners, many of whom demand at least rebuilding their demolished part of the building and leaders are finding it difficult to fulfill their demand. They are planning to call upon kind hearted donors to contribute to this dream project come as a reality. We will inform about our viewers about the development in the near future. However the Road work will be done under government project.
