KVGCE Sullia Engineers Alumni UAE Chapter was officially launched in UAE in a glittering programme conducted at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sh. Zayed Road, Dubai on 25th of May, 2012 with day long programme which started at around 10.30 AM.  It was a grand inaugural programme with launching of website and logo.  This was an unique programme to catch up with old friends and reminiscing old memories, revisiting lost loves, and reconnect with old buddy’s.

 

KVG College of Engineering is one of the most reputed engineering colleges in Karnataka, India.  The engineering college, started in 1986, was one of the first private sector initiatives in technical education in Dakshina Kannada District. Popularly known as KVGCE is located in Kurunjibhag, Sullia, Dakshina Kannada,in the southern Indian state of Karnataka is one of the largest mega educational complexes in the country.KVGE is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. KVGCE is approved by All India Council for Technical Education AICTE (New Delhi) & has ISO 9001-2000 certification.

KVGCE has an impeccable & diverse Academy of Liberal Education lead by Founder & Chairman Dr Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda & Active General Secretary Dr K V Renuka Prasad. Society is well supported by able leaders on the ground.  Principal Dr N.A Jnanesh & Vice Principal Dr.Shivakumar H R, who have a Team of learned & experienced Heads of Dept (HODs) & Faculty /Support staff members. College is offering a professionally fulfilling & fun-filled environment that supports faculty /staff to deliver the very best teaching cum support to students plus valued contributions to Research & Development. KVG Group is amongst the best in Faculty retention & Student drop-out. KVGCE is further modernizing its sprawling campus with State-of Art Classroom Facilities, Laboratories, Research Infrastructure & overall extracurricular activities. KVGCE is pursuing this modernization in line with its objective of providing Industry-Ready Engineers/ Managers while fostering Industry-lead research & Inter-Institution/Intra-Institution collaboration. 2003 to form Alumni Association in UAE. This was the first ever association of old students of KVGCE outside India and the first members gathered together were Anil Mathew, Boris Joseph, George Thomas, Josh Prakash, Retty Rajan Dani, Santhosh Samuel, Satish & Sujith Chanda

Today the day’s programme started with initial warm welcome and chit chat with the members at the entrance and registering names, collecting the badges etc.

Three well known MC’s of UAE DJ’s Hansraj, Charu & Kris were then introduced to the audience by Rakesh Mathew who took over the stage and welcomed the guests.  Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty , MD & CEO of NMC Group of Companies was the Chief Guests, followed by Guest M.P. Singh, Consul, Indian Consulate, Dubai, Guest Rizwan Sajan, CEO of Danube Group, Guest Sudhir Shetty, CEO of UAE Exchange & Guest Ria D’Souza, Cine Actress and Zee TV Anchor were being escorted by Asha, Leesha, Snehal, Dilsha & Jibi respectively on to the stage and honoured with flower bouquet. 

President, Guru Prasad Aithal opened up the programme with his welcome speech briefly welcoming all the guests and members to the launching programme.  Followed by traditional lighting the lamp done by the Chief Guest and other Guests on the dias.  Soon slide show presentation was done and M.P. Singh, Consul Indian Consulate Dubai inaugurated the logo launching on the logo board.  All the guests spoke briefly on the occasion and congratulated the Alumni on their launch in UAE.

Dony, General Secretary of the Alumni read out the report highlighting the activities of the past.  Followed was Web site launch with brief from Kris and launching clicked by Rizwan Sajan of Danube.  Though the Principal of KVGCE  could not attend, he sent his message which was broadcasted through web media on the screen.

Sudhir Shetty of UAE Exchange along with Actress Ria D’Souza inaugurated the Newsletter/Members Directory launching while it was displayed in the screen simultaneously.  President Guru Prasad handed over the mementos to the Guests followed by vote of thanks rendered by Jathin.

A mindreading show was soon presented by Praveen which was followed by a welcome prayer performed by Abhirami.  It was nice to see the slide show collection scrolling down showing memory of yesteryears in college and all the ex-students were bursting into laughter looking at themselves.  The important part is that the photo of the nearby Police Station was also shown and mentioned some of their presence at that time.

MC DJ Charu took over the next session with Hansraj & Kris which started with a theme ’Which batch was the best and why" interacting with the audience for their response which had many gifts as spot prize.  Many ex-students came up with their reactions saying ’ours is the best’ and so on.  Finally the best batch answers were identified and honoured with the Gift whereas other participants were also presented with a gift hampers from Americana.

Ladies Wing of the Alumni presented a thunderous group dance for a Hindi number applauded by all the audience.  Soon Ammu presented a semi classical dance ’dheem thanana dheem’ gracefully followed by a song by Rajesh.

DJ’s Hansraj, Charu & Kris auctioned Bat & Ball signed by the legend Gavaskar in the presence of  Actress Ria D’Souza which was bidded by very many enthusiastic members.

Madhav and Reshma presented a cinematic duet performance followed by a Malayalam song rendered by Anil R.  Ryan Biju presented a break dance  followed by a duet Kannada dance by Ananya & Ahalya.  Neha Nisha presented a Bharatanatyam performance followed by a English song by Rosmin Jerin.  Sneha Siju dance number was followed by a Malayalam  duet song presented melodiously by Ammu and Rajesh later followed by Rayna Roopak who presented a dance number applauded by the audience.

MC Charu then conducted a spot prize game on ragging incident followed by a song by Krishna.  Scripted by Charu was a best SEA Couple of the year contest conducted by herself identifying 5 couples on a random shot and presenting them on the stage with a question answer rounds.  The best part of it was the couples dancing along with Actress Ria on the spot for a random song, nicely presented and performed boldly by the participants.  The best couple were identified and honoured.

 

 

Later Jeen presented drum beats and was followed by a interaction round with couples married from Sullia which was conducted by MC Charu.  It was nice to see a dance performance by mother and daughter duo Preetha & Swetha.  Next was as question time with Kris which was really interesting.

Max - Riyaz and team presented a skit while later Charu & Hansraj presented ’Sullia Shaktiman’ which was mind blowing.

At the end was raffle mega draw conducted by Kris, Charu & Hansraj followed by memento distribution to the sponsors and executive members.  In the afternoon was a wide spread sumptuous buffet lunch in between the programme and audience grabbed the food and sat in their seats to have a glimpse of the continuing programme.

Late in the evening was the closing ceremony with slide presentation prepared by Dony and played by Biji who was assisting with this all the time throughout.  Jyotsna and Manoj thanked the audience at the end.

Hope this will inspire other old students who are not yet member of any alumni or otherwise not attended any alumni event to come forward and attend all such future functions
