Udupi: June 14, 2013: A couple of days back we have highlighted the flight of commuters travelling from Bengre-Hoode-Thottam road in this column and were looking for some quick response to take up the repair work from the concerned departments. Yes, there was  a quick response from the said department, the road saw some repair taken place in this area, the material lying from long was used in this area and now look at the below pictures before we take you to the next part of this article...

The concerned department has filled the red ponds with Zalli stones and with Zalli powder without any proper planning or precautions  and thus shown their talents in developing  several smaller ponds instead of the previous few big ponds. By doing so they have not only wasted the public money in water but also made the road worse than before for the commuters.

The problem does not end here, there are lots of gravel stones spread all over the road and the commuters are wondering, are these stones left on the road as seen in the pictures to hit the one who spill the water while riding their vehicles during the rainy season? and started raising questions about who is responsible if a two wheeler gets skid by hitting these gravel stones while riding and the rider gets injured?? why should the innocent people suffer for the mistakes of the few irresponsible people?? Why can’t the department finish the work in a neat and cleanly manner like in other parts of the district?. As seen in the pictures water is flowing through the road and we can’t see any drainage systems beside the road and which is a must to maintain the repaired road. Why can’t the department or the concerned authorities did not notices these errors before they take up the repair work??. And finally, now who is responsible for this mess is the big question for which the public hopefully awaiting the answers in action from the responsible people and departments.

Mr Sadanada instead of being critic please ask the local govt to perform Puja for more fish in the sea. last year the Karnataka gove spent for Rs 17 Crore for puja for rains. God does not need money only good hearts. The Govt itself made them because tiny mesh mosquito nets were sold to catch the juvenile fish and egg. please watch this interesting news copy paste to your browser.

I think the new MLA should seriously act on this. He should take this as as a challenge and find a permanent solution to this problem and we will always trust him as we have voted.

Mr Sadanada, Jossey, CDS, Peter Sunil, and many of your contributors for feed back are considered the best outspoken for the betterment of society. They have reserved the right and exposed Whatever is destructive or harmful in feedback. Some in our society are like Salamandors (Onti)in the sun they tend to turn brown. If they are in cooler environments they turn green. Who knows Sadanadas eat fish or meat everything is according to their own will and taste spilling and spraying fish water on others by fish transport truckers is contrary to Oswins comment. Of course let there be more incentives for them while farmers commit suicide every year in 1000s May their soul rest in peace Anna Daata Ninu Nenige sharanu. Ninagilla yavude MLA gala sapportu mattu subsidy?

@Jossy your comment partner CDS is back in action - good luck to both of you. @Sadanand, Manipal/Udupi, what are you talking about, your name says you are a fish eater, then why so much hate against the fishing industry which is active in our district!!

I remember once i was on my way to a temple for wedding ceremony on a two wheeler via Kemmannu town rd near the Convent school a truck in front of me suddenly braked to slow down at the speed breaker hump. a load full of fish stinking blood water poured on me for i was unaware of the rotten cargo in front. skidding and slippery also another serious issue to be considered to avoid accidents due to this oily substance.

The Malpe to Bengre rd stretch is laid on a geographically unstable sandy terrain. Here the earth sinks faster. The authorities do not have certain road construction norms for such region and the tender from pwd is considered same as normal roads which is vice versa for Thottam rd. The govt is blessed fisher men from the region with many packages that include subsidized kerosene, rice, sugar, oil, interest free loan, housing, insurance even full pledged political support from the previous govt. Now we hope the new leaders will build a road that is not far. Though one must remember this road is degraded with fish water spilled everyday by trucks, stop that every truck that ruin our roads.

This belt is a problematic stretch for best of PWD Engineer’s. Stitched today torn tomorrow. Futile like stitching the old underwear, you never know when it will give up.
